Marist district of Amazonia

13/02/2009: Brazil

On 20 December 2008, at Ji-Paraná/RO (Brazil), the Marist Novitiate of the District of Amazonia celebrated the grace of God and the blessings of our Good Mother with the consecration of two young novices : Francisco Marcos Gomes da Páscoa and Marcelo Cavalcante da Cunha.

The Amazonian and Marist community give thanks to the Father for the gift of these two young Marists who have chosen to follow Christ, in the footsteps of Mary and of Champagnat.

The novices expressed themselves thus in the act of consecration : “… after this period of discernment, we have experience of God’s goodness towards us ; through the study of the Constitutions we have been able to know who the Marist Brothers are ;we have been able to share the joys, the reality, and the demands of community life ; we know better the Marist spirituality incarnated in the Amazon region. Before this reality, we wish to consecrate ourselves to God and be consecrated by Him to the service of the Kingdom, by making profession in the religious family of the Little Brothers of Mary. ”

The ceremony took place in the course of the community Mass at the usual time. The local bishop presided. Some Brothers from Brazilian Amazonia were present, the mother and the brother of the professed, some Sisters, the good immigrants of this region, and many members of the Youth Group. Friends of the community willingly helped with the liturgy and the celebration.
