Preparation for the World Youth Day

On 4 and 5 June, Curitiba was the scene of a great demonstration: the Province Marist Youth Day. The event was organizes by the Provincial Ministry Sector, for some 650 young people belonging to the Marist Youth Ministry of the Province of « Brasil Centro-Sul ». Apart from providing scope for the various forms of expression of Marist youth and the celebration of the feast of Saint Marcellin, the Day contributed to preparations for a much greater meeting to take place in Madrid in August, the World Youth Day (WYD).

One of the most striking features of the Day was that the activities went on for 24 hours without interruption. All the participants were involved; no one was left out… there was not even time for sleep! The programme provided for numerous activities: workshops based on  personal testimonies on topics relating to youth; a concert of the musician Wilson Rocha; a theatrical presentation with the actor Márcio Libar; conversation with Gabriel, The Thinker; a debate with persons engaged in the building of a more fraternal world; times of prayer, spirituality, etc.

At the end of these 24 houres,  fatigue could certainly be seen on every face, but feelings of joy, contentment and enthusiasm shone in the hearts of the young people present. The Province Day was a great celebration and surely will stay in the memories of the participants.
