Animation of the Marist Fraternities of the province

06/08/2011: Spain

On 23 and 24 July 2011, the Provincial Animation Team of the Marist Fraternities of the province of Mediterránea held their final meeting of the course to evaluate, and to begin planning for the next one.

These were two days of meeting, brotherhood and working together to serve our brothers and sisters of the fraternities and our Marist province, uniting ourselves, as our de La Salle friends would say, for the Marist mission. We greatly missed two members of the team, Javier López, because of illness, and Esther Alguacil, because she will shortly become a mother.

We were able to consider what gives us HOPES about the way we are attempting to follow as sons and daughters of Champagnat, Marists of Champagnat and followers of Jesus. We also saw that in the measure we are moving forward in our commitment both within and outside the fraternity, we are growing as persons and Christians.  We took the opportunity to realize that we want to live by investing “our talents”, in this task of animation, because we perceive, each time with greater clarity, that the members of the fraternities taking part are all there through and for the mission.

We analyzed the needs of the fraternities, which we grouped in three main blocks: the need to continue being accompanied (especially those who feel alone, those who are not well and groups interested in becoming a fraternity); the need to continue increasing, as the family we are, communication between the fraternities, the fraternities and the Provincial Animation Team and vice versa, and the fraternities and the province; lastly, we saw, after analyzing the needs, that it is very important to train ourselves in helping to grow in anthropological and group aspects, and in the theological meaning of being Christian community. We saw that the formation will be reinforced by the experience of the “Shared formation meeting, Brothers and Laity” which we hold in our province, in August, and in which eight members of the fraternities out of a total of twenty one will take part.

We prayed about the talents we have received from the Lord and the calls which rise from the needs of those we are accompanying and thanked the Lord for relying on us in this task.

We planned the most important dates for the course coming in 2011/2012. We finished by dining with the Marist community of Granada, to whom we are tremendously grateful for hosting us another year in their house and in the college.
