« Dare to look at the reality of the Marist Provinces of Spain »

Café-colloquium of the Institute of Marist Studies

26/03/2013: Spain

This school year, we organized the « IV CYCLE OF THE CAFÉ-COLLOQUIUM OF THE IMS (Institute of Marist Studies) » and as something new, it seemed to us opportune to hold it in the buildings of the « Centro Cultural » College of  Valladolid, in order that other communities could take part in it.

This year’s theme was: « DARE TO LOOK AT THE REALITY OF THE MARIST PROVINCES ! », in harmony with the motto of this school year for the colleges of Spain : « DARE TO LOOK ».

We wanted to know the Marist situation of our Provinces :

-  MEDITERRÁNEA, guided by Br Juan Carlos Fuertes Mari, Vice provincial of the Province of « Mediterránea » and former student of the establishment « Luis Vives ».

-  COMPOSTELA,enlightened by Br Oscar Martín Vicario, Provincial of the Province of Compostela and former student of UPSA, and

-   IBÉRICA, with Br Carlos Martín Hinojar, Provincial Secretary, Co-ordinator of the Provincial Commission of Consecrated Life and Secretary of the NGO SED, who explained to us in a very clear way the situation of his Province.

We judge the experience very positive, as on the preceding occasions ; this is how the participants in the colloquiums have expressed it, which encourages us to continue in this line in approaching different subjects of the Marist situation today.

Among those present were many Brothers from the communities of Valladolid ; others from the community of Palencia ; and for ourselves, we made the trip from Salamanca despite bad weather, especially on the last day.

The ambiance created among the participants, the fact of knowing where we are today, as well as the future prospects of our Marist situation, all that encourages us to share these moments, from which we draw profit despite the many works it is necessary to have on the go in our schools at such dates.

We wish to thank the Brothers and teachers for their participation, and the  « Centro Cultural Vallisoletano » - Director of the high school, Director of the college, Secretariat and Brothers of the Marist community – for the welcome they gave us. We felt truly at home !
