Brother David McDonald appointed District Superior



New District of the Pacific

05/07/2013: New Zealand

Br David McDonald, current Provincial, has been appointed first superior of the District of the Pacific by the Brother Superior General, for a first term of three years, starting from 15 December 2013. In his letter, Br Emili wrote to the Brothers of the Province of New Zealand:

« Your confidence in David will constitute for him an important support in the years ahead. We thank David for his generosity and readiness to accept this important responsibility when you are reflecting on your future. »

The Marist Brothers arrived in New Zealand in 1838. The Province was created in 1917. At present, it numbers  94 Brothers in 4 countries : New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and Kiribati. On 15 December, the Province will become a District under the name of « District of the Pacific ». This is the end of a process which commenced in 2011. The first District Chapter will be held this December.
