Programme « Amanecer » – Manziana

Course for Spanish-and Portuguese-speaking Brothers of the third age

26/09/2013: Italy

The « Amanecer » 2013 session is taking place at Manziana, in the environs of Rome, during August and September. Each year, with rare exceptions, sessions of spirituality are organised for brothers of the Spanish and Portuguese languages and for those of the English language, or for both groups together. After the session in course for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking brothers, there will be another for English-speaking brothers.

The present session began on 1August and will end on 29 September.  Co-ordination is assured by Brothers Landelino Ortego G., director ; José Kremmer Feix, sub-director, and Anthony Hunt, econome. These Brothers come respectively from the the Marist Provinces of « Norandina », « Rio Grande do Sul » and « Australia ».

The group is composed of 19 brothers and a Marianist father. The latter is taking part with two confrères of the same congregation and assures the daily Eucharist as well as spiritual direction for those who wish. The three Marianists come from Spain. Of the 17 Marists, 5 come from Spain, 3 from Brasil, 2 from Mexico, 1 from Chile, 1 from Cuba, 1 from Tanzania, 1 from Colombia, 1 from Italy, 1 from El Salvador and 1 from Bolivia.

Many brothers and lay persons come to present on themes connected with the objectives of the  session : Psychology of the elderly brother ; Personal and community prayer life ; Integral health at a mature age ; our salvation history ; older persons in the Bible ; Marial spirituality ; laity and brothers around the charism ; the following of Christ as disciples ; Anthropology of the elderly brother ; Marianist and Marist spiritualities. Br Emili Turú, Superior General, also spoke to the brothers one afternoon.

The participants go on a cultural outing each week to neighbouring towns : Rome, Viterbo, Orvieto, Subiaco, the Etruscan necropolises at Bracciano, Cerveteri and Anguilara. The climax of these trips was the visit to the Marist places of Champagnat, with a stay at the Hermitage.

The group of the « Amanecer » session is enchanted with the programme, the topics presented, the joy, good spirit and unity which reign. They are all grateful to their Provinces for this opportunity offered them.
