Novitiate in Ibagué

16/10/2013: Colombia

On 10 September 2013, the « Noviciado Santa María » was set up in the community of Ibagué in Colombia. In fact, Alonso Pino Joaquí had been authorized by Br Superior General to make his novitiate in this place, under the direction of Br José Manuel Gómez.

Alonso Pino was born in San Miguel de la Vega, Cauca, on 31/12/1954. He entered the  Champagnat College of Popayán as a general services worker on 31/09/1974, and in 2008 went to the community of Ibagué as infirmarian and for other services. After 39 years of service to the Marist community, he asked to be received into the congregation in order to serve the Lord in a more radical way through religious vows. Alonso has always been characterized by his piety, his spirit of service and his devotion to others. We have no doubt that the Lord is calling him to a greater gift of his life, consecrating himself to his service within the Marist community. All our congratulations !
