Fraternities of the ChMMF united by the Marist charism

The Animators of 23 fraternities gathered in Curitiba

26/03/2014: Brazil

On the week-end of 8 and 9 March 2014, the animators representing 23 fraternities and the Brother advisers of the Province of Brasil Centro-Sul, to a total of 52 participants, met in Curitiba. The topic of the meeting : « The space of the youth in the ChMMF »was in keeping with the process of revitalisation.

The Champagnat Movement of the Marist Family (ChMMF) was officially set up by the Marist Institute in 1985. Through the Fraternities, it brings together lay men and women who wish to share the life and nourish the dreams and  ideas of the lay Marist vocation. Those forming part of the movement include those who identify with the Marist charism, with or without functional link ; those who desire to follow the dream of Marcellin Champagnat ; those who desire to live Marist spirituality in their daily lives. The ChMMF finds itself in a fine process of revitalisation on the world level. There are more than 300 fraternities spread around the Marist world,  88 of them in Marist Brasil and 23 in the Marist Group.

The meeting was a place and time for reflection, consolidation, renewal and questioning. Here is the testimony of one layman: « The meeting had a clear goal, with times well organized and well connected topics. It was possible for everyone to participate. There was sharing of word and readiness to listen in the group. The presence of the Brothers is always important : they collaborated by setting the ‘tone’ for the meeting, which was brilliantly run and co-ordinated by the lay team ». A Brother also evaluated the meeting positively : « The subjects were treated with sufficient depth, especially when it was a question of putting Jesus Christ as the foundation for the journey of the ChMMF. Never forget that Marcellin is not an end but a means for going to Jesus Christ. The ChMMF meeting always is a breath of LIFE for me and certainly also for all the members ».

I thank everyone in a special way for their participation. It was an opportunity for human and spiritual growth of  rare grandeur.
