The Dance of Mission

‘It’s as if God’s self were a dance of life,’ says Superior General

14/04/2015: General House

The Superior General of the Marist Brothers has released a letter stressing the importance of the Marists’ missionary work and comparing it to a divine dance.

The letter, titled ‘Montagne: the Dance of Mission,’ is the thoughts of Br Emili Turú on the first of the three years dedicated to preparing for the Marists’ 200th anniversary.

In his letter, written on March 25, the Br Emili  shares his overall perspective on the Montagne Year, which is running from Oct. 2014 to 2015.

It is as though God’s self were a dance of life, of love, of energy, moving throughout the world, inviting each one to join in the dance,” he writes. “And as more people join the dance, even more feel drawn to it.”

This year, the Montagne Year, is dedicated to the Marists’ mission, inspired by the encounter between Saint Marcellin Champagnat and the young boy Montagne.

Next year is titled Fourvière Year and commemorates 200 years since a group of young priests travelled to the shrine of Fourvière in Lyon and promised to establish the Society of Mary, a wider project of which the order of the Marist Brothers were born.

From 2016-2017, the La Valla Year will commemorate the birth of the Marist Brothers Institute in the town of St Marcellin’s first parish.
