Perpetual Profession of Brother Federico Gómez Bueno

21/12/2005: Spain

The locality of Algemesi (Valencia, Spain) has witnessed once more the perpetual consecration to God in the Marist vocation of one of its sons. In effect, Brother Federico Gómez had chosen the Basilica of San Jaime to profess his perpetual vows on the 8th December.
About forty brothers, including all of the Provincial Council, from different places of the Province of Mediterránea were present at his profession. Also present were the parents of Brother Federico Gómez, several parents of students from the Marist school in the city, members of two fraternities, teachers, catechists, etc. More than three hundred people wanted to participate in the joy of Brother Federico Gómez on this unforgettable day. Seven priests concelebrated the Eucharist; some came from Murcia, the city in which Brother lives.
In his speech, Federico spoke of his desire to offer himself more intimately to the Lord. He gave thanks to God and to the Blessed Virgin for his vocation, as well as to his parents, his formators and the communities that helped him discover the plans that God has for him. Brother Manuel Jorques, Provincial, gave the homily. He stressed the value of religious consecration as a gift and service to others through the education of the least favoured.
A meal concluded this profound action, carried out with simplicity but which was also a form of catechesis offered to the people of Algemesi, who have already given many Marist Brothers. At the end of the meal, the father of Federico shared some very moving words.
Brother Federico Gómez Bueno was born in 1976. Coming from the Marist college of his city, he went to the Novitiate at Torrente. He pronounced his first vows in 1998 at Valence. He is presently a member of the community of Murcia-La Merced and he is studying Religious Sciences at the Faculty of Theology of Murcia. He is at the same time active in the school catechesis.
