FMSI launches “Rights without borders. Marist initiatives for the care of Migrants and Refugees”

14/06/2017: General House

A few days before the Global Conference on Children on the Move (Berlin 12-13 of June), FMSI launched the publication “Rights without borders. Marist Initiatives for the care of Migrants and Refugees”.

Rights without borders” is a collection of initiatives carried out to have a general view or survey of Marist experiences and of the principal challenges and opportunities in the framework of the great movements of migrants and refugees, with special attention to the protection of the rights of the boys and girls. In this publication are included experiences of different countries. Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Rwanda Spain, Lebanon, Thailand.

At present the world is facing a level of human mobility without precedence. And, even if for the majority of migrants this is a positive experience and they succeed to transfer or move from one place to another without any incident, the number of those who are forced to leave their place of origin reaches historical levels. The circumstances and conditions in which they have to displace themselves, many times, make them risk their life. .

Before a scenario such as this, it has seemed to us to be pertinent or appropriate to contact and make known the actions that the Marist network carries out in different parts of the world, to respond to the needs of migrants and refugees – especially children and young people – and to guarantee for them the joy of their rights.

In spaces or places such as the Global Conference on Children on the Move, in which FMSI will be represented, it is possible to contribute the experience and the competence of the Marist Institution in the education of migrant boys and young adolescents as it is contained in this publication.

The publication has been realized thanks to the: Marist editorial: FTD Educação (Brazil) and Assessoria de Comunicação Institucional da Província Marista Brasil Centro-Sul (Brazil).
