"Pastoral Care for Children: Identity, Pathways and Meaning" is the name of the document that seeks to clarify the projects and pastoral actions which address children from 0 to 12 years in the various mission settings of the Brazil South-Amazonia Marist Network. The proposal consists in structuring the ministry to children, systematizing what is already being done and determining new possibilities.
According to Maria Inete Rocha Maja, Pastoral Counselor of the Marist Network, the goal is to contribute to the development of the faith of today's child and to lay the foundations where the pastoral care of children needs attentive perception and conscious action, organized and methodical.
"We want to focus our pastoral action increasingly on the new methods of evangelizing education of children and to help educators and animators see pedagogical and pastoral approaches in the light of faith," explains Maria, adding that the document recalls the original mission of the Marist Institute, promotes a better knowledge of the child’s world and offers possibilities for renewed pastoral action.
