Message from the Chapter delegates
“To be a blessing” is the most appropriate theme of this historical and momentous event. We became convinced that we and all the brothers are a blessing in this New Province wherever we are and whatever apostolic work we are engaged in.

We owe our gratitude and thanks to you brothers for placing your trust in us to elect us to the provincial chapter. This chapter remains a unique and unforgettable landmark in the history of the New Province. To be a part of this history making event is a privilege that you have conferred on us.

The lived experience at Maris Stella is one of togetherness and brotherhood. There was frank and humble sharing of our thoughts and reflections. The words like “regional representation”, “sector delegates” were uppermost in the minds of some brothers. A certain amount of uneasiness, fear and insecurity were felt. Sensitivity towards one another and wisdom prevailed, saner ideas emerged, regionalism and cultural biases evaporated into thin air. The sense of belonging to one and a single province slowly but strongly was born in the minds and hearts of us all. The whole atmosphere changed into one of trust and understanding. The words of Fr. Champagnat in his Last Testament became true. “Be of one heat and one mind”.

The following priorities for the New Province for the next three years clearly emerged as we deliberated the responses sent by the brother to the Preparatory Commission.

- Pastoral care of the Brothers
- Vocation Ministry
- Financial Stability

We see in certain parts of the Asian countries there is utter chaos, dissension, destruction and even death. Whereas a small group of Marist Brothers coming from three different countries set the example of working, sharing and living in peace, friendship and harmony, going even beyond cultural, ethnic and lingual barriers.

Our theme of the Chapter “to be a blessing” is no mere rhetoric. It is dynamic and life giving. Lets all make this a reality in our day to day living by being a blessing to one another.
