Representatives of the Brazilian Conference of Religious visit the Generalate

29/02/2008: General House

Over a period of several days, the Generalate community had the pleasure of welcoming Sister Márian Ambrósio, DP, and Brother Lauro Hoch-scheit, Provincial of Rio Grande del Sul. Sister Márian is President of the Brazilian Conference of Religious, and Brother Hochscheit, Treasurer.

They had come to Rome to present their Conference’s new canonical statute to the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and for Societies of Apostolic Life. They were warmly received by Father Eusébio Hernández, OAR. They took advantage of the occasion to make contact with various individuals and to strengthen their ties of friendship with other organizations, among which the Union of Superior Generals (USIG).

The Brazilian Conference of Religious, founded in l954, consists of female and male religious of the country. The new administrative team has moved its headquarters from Rio de Janeiro to Brasilia. The nation-wide conference consists of seventeen groups which represent the seven-teen regions of the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference. A cordial atmosphere of cooperation and co-responsibility exists between the two groups. May their members be united in one common enthusiasm so that all may have life in abundance.
