Cesar Augusto Rojas Carvajal

I was born on April 26, 1966 in the city of Bogota (Colombia) and I belong to the Norandina Province.  My adorable parents are José Alfredo (Marist former pupil) and Mery Carvajal.  I am the oldest of four children.  My Sister Claudia is the coordinator of the Marist Social Center of the neighborhood La Paz in Bogota, my Sister Constanza coordinates the Fraternity Family of Mary of the Provincial House and my brother Carlos Alberto (Beto) is a Marist Brother and recently, he has been named director of the Secretariat of Mission in Rome.

I did my primary and secondary studies in the Colegio Champagnat of Bogota.  Since I was young I belonged to the processes of the Movement ‘Remar’ and I entered the community in January 1983.  I made my first Profession in August 1985 in the city of Medellin and my perpetual profession in July 1989 in the city of Popayán.  I graduated as Bachelor of Arts in Education and Religious Sciences in the Pontifical Universidad Bolivariana in Medellin (1990).  I also studied Technology of Business Administration in the University of Saint Thomas (1997) and a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Pastoral Ministry and Animation in the Pontifical Salesian University (2001).  From 1990 to 1993 I coordinated the Movement ‘Remar’ and Vocation Pastoral Ministry in the Province of Colombia.  From 1994 to 1998 I was director of the school of Cristo in the city of Manizales and from 1998 to 2001 I formed part of the International School of Rome.  From 2001 to 2003 I coordinated once again the Vocation Pastoral Ministry and since 2003 I rendered service as Vice Provincial of the new Norandina Province and delegate of Brother Provincial in Colombia.  From 2011 to 2014 I assumed the direction of the Secretariat Brothers Today in Rome and since December 12, 2014 I carry out the pastoral mission as Provincial animator of the Norandina Province.

I consider myself a happy Brother, hard-working, enthusiastic and in love of the Marist life. I feel happy that my Province has been chosen as the Seat of the XXII General Chapter and that our Bicentenary year invites us to a new beginning for our Institute.

From now welcome to the Republic of Colombia, a beautiful country and full of magic realism just as described by Gabriel García Marquez in his works.

Brothers and laity of Champagnat, passionate for the proclamation of the Kingdom of God to children and young people, in a wounded world and thirsty for God, in the style of Mary, weaving relationships of fraternity and communion.
