José Augusto  Júnior

José Augusto Júnior, known as Brother Junior, was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, on December 12, 1982, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. He knew the Marist Institute through the pastoral work of the Church carried out by Brothers and Laity in the Marist Center of Pastoral Ministry in that city.  He made his initial formation in Montes Claros/MG, Vila Velha/ES, Maranguape/CE.  His first profession was on December 13, 2009, in Mendes/RJ and he entered in the Scholasticate Champagnat, in Belo Horizonte/MG.  

In this mining city, he made his Theological and Pastoral studies and, in 2013, he finished his Bachelor’s degree in Theology in the Institute Santo Tomas de Aquino-ISTA. 

At the end of the Scholasticate, he worked as Formator in the Pre-Postulancy (2014) and Postulancy (2015) and he continued his academic formation as specialist in the Charism and Marist educational principles in the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná-PUCPR. As preparation to perpetual profession, he participated in the itinerary of preparation, in Cochabamba/Bolivia and professed perpetually on November 21, 2015. 

Of his apostolic work it is worthwhile to mention especially the pastoral activities throughout the time of his initial formation with presence in the Marist Units and insertion in the ecclesial communities.  At present he collaborates in the provincial service of supervision of the provincial organisms, responsible for invigorating the areas of consecrated life, the Laity, evangelization, vocation animation and the administrative management of the communities of the Province Brazil Central-North.
