Anthony Clarke

My name is Anthony Clarke and I am from the Province of Australia. I live in Sydney.  I have two sisters and a brother who are all married. I enjoy spending time with my eight nieces and nephews.

I grew up in a small rural town and it was here that I was first introduced to the Marists at Primary School. This relationship continued through my teenage years through attending a Marist Secondary College.  After completing school, I studied theology and education and began working in schools with students and staff in the area of spiritual formation.

Currently, as the Director of Formation for the ‘Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat’ I work with a team of Marist men, women and Brothers who share the responsibility for animating and supporting the spirituality of those working in Marist ministries across Australia. This is exciting and rewarding work and I feel energised by the challenges and opportunities that it offers in growing our Marist life.

More recently, I had the privilege of working as Co-Director of the Secretariat of the Laity. This role allowed me to experience the many diverse, challenging and unexpected riches of Marist life. To see so many Marist women and men responding to live their Christian discipleship with such authenticity and passion has been a humbling gift that has continued to enrich my own personal journey of faith.

I feel privileged and grateful to be invited to share our lives together as Marists at Rio Negro during this special moment of Marist life.

My prayer is that this time of contemplation and dialogue will rustle the Holy Spirit to act with all the power of a mighty wind to renew, give life and love in perhaps the most unexpected places, and in the most surprising ways.
