Manuel Jorques Bru

I am Br. Manuel Jorques Bru, I was born in Algemesi (Valencia) on April 14, 1951; I am a former pupil of the School of Our Lady of la Salud of Algemesi.   In the school course 1965 I entered the Juniorate of Guardamar (Alicante).  In 1966 I went to the Novitiate of Segorbe.  In September 1968 I made my First Profession.   In 1973, I made the Perpetual Profession and in 1988, the Vow of Stability.

I studied Philosophy and Theology in the ISPE Salamanca, and did the studies of Teachers’ Training in Salamanca and Valencia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography-History, specialized in Medieval History in the University of Murcia.  I have also followed courses in catechesis, Vocation and Youth Pastoral Ministry, Group Dynamics, Self-Esteem, Medieval Castles,  Middle Ages…

I have worked in several Schools as educator, Professor, Director, and Delegate of Pastoral Ministry, Sports, Scout Movement and Provincial delegate of Pastoral Ministry.  I have also been Professor in the Superior National College of Community and Director of the Juniorate and Marist Postulancy Br. Stanislaus of Murcia.  I have accompanied several groups of Spiritual Exercises of Brothers and lay persons; I have done two courses of Spirituality and an apostolic experience of six months in Comarapa (Bolivia).  In 1997 I began my service as Provincial during six years in the Province of Levante and seven in the Mediterranean Province.  I accompanied and animated the restructuring of the beginning of the Marist District of Western Africa.

I participated in the General Chapters XX and XXI and in the General Conferences held during these years as Provincial.

At present I am in Granada as superior of the community of reception and of Brothers and Laity, Professor of the School and working in Pastoral Ministry and accompaniment.

My dream: to be a new Brother who lives and transmits peace, serenity, goodness and above all, listen to the people with whom I live and above all, the children and young people whom I accompany.

My prayer: Give me Lord Wisdom to listen to and accompany the children and young people with whom I live.

The institution must take care of people.
