Two Marist Brothers make perpetual profession

On the feast of the Assumption of Mary, Brothers Leomar D’Avila and Neri Depaoli made their perpetual profession in the Institute of the Marist Brothers, in the Province « Brasil Centro-Sul ». The ceremony took place in the Senhor Bom Jesus da Redenção parish, at Itapejara D’Oeste – Paraná.

Leomar and Neri chose as the motto for this important date in their lives verse 8 of Chapter 6 of Isaiah: « Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger? I answered: Here I am, send me. »

The two brothers have written a summary of their vocation journey and their current work (see below). The Mass of profession was presided over by Fr. Cesar Pogere. Brother Joaquim Sperandio (Vice-provincial) received their vows in the name of the Superior General.

Brother Leomar D’Avila was born on 5 June 1977 in Itapejara D’Oeste/PR. He is the son of Willy and Teresa P. De Avila. He did his primary schooling at in Itapejara D’OEste, at the public school « Irmão Isidoro Dumont », and his secondary studies at et Londrina and Itapejara D’Oeste. In 2000 he entered the postulancy at São Paulo/SP. In 2001 he commenced his novitiate at Campinas/SP, where he took his first vows on 8 December 2002. He did his scholasticate in Florianopolis from 2003 to July 2004. Then he joined the community of Pouso Redondo/SC, until December 2005. Since 2006 he has been living in the community of Dourados/MS, where he works in the vocational accompaniment of adolescents and young people. He is doing his last year in the faculty of Physical Education at the University Centre of Grande Dourados – UNIGRAN.

Brother Neri Depaoli was born on 12 August 1977 at Mariano Moro/RS, son of Rosalina and Genuíno Depaoli, fifth in a family of six boys. When he was 7, the family moved to Paraná. He received his first communion in 1988 and confirmation in 1990. After primary school in Itapejara D’Oeste/PR, he heard God’s call to serve Him in religious life. At the age of 15, he entered the juniorate of Londrina. The different stages of his formation took place in Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Campinas and Florianópolis. He made his first profession in 2002. He began his apostolic activity in 2005 in the outskirts of São Paulo – Zona Este, where he obtained a diploma in Social Service. He is currently directing two Marist Social Units: Itaquera and Robrú. He is also working with his religious community in the Social Centres CESOMAR « Irmão Lourenço » and « Irmão Justino ». He is co-ordinator of catechetics at the invitation of Father Jalmir Matias de Oliveira, his former professor of Philosophy and current parish priest of the Jesus Christo Ressuscitado parish.
